Our adoring fans at MagoGuide know me as editor, photographer, and code developer, but perhaps you didn’t realize that I have a love of travel writing as well? I always keep a journal while on our adventures and thought that it might be fun to share some of those stories with you. We’ll begin with a memorable hike up Monte Pellegrino on a visit to Palermo.
Some of the prettiest walks near Bantry Ireland are on the Sheep’s Head Peninsula. This post describes two such walks, one to the copper mines and the other to the nearby Sheep’s Head Lighthouse.
Although we had come to Bantry in order to take advantage of the more dramatic Sheep’s Head hikes along the coast, there were some beautiful walks to be started right from the center of downtown Bantry.
One of our first hikes every year when we get to the North Fork in Montana is to Hornet Lookout. It’s the easiest of all the North Fork hikes and the views are wonderful.
Newport, Pembrokeshire is certainly a pretty town and well worth a visit in its own right. But what we enjoyed most during our visit was using Newport as the starting point for another great hike along the Welsh Pembrokeshire Coast Path.
St. Davids is a holiday beach town located just inland of the spectacular Pembrokeshire Coast Path. It has some interesting sites, markets, and restaurants. But one doesn’t need to spend more than a week here.
We enjoyed our stay in Abergavenny, Wales, but we have to admit that it wasn’t the highlight of the trip we anticipated. Neither the Swanmeadow Holiday Cottages at Pantygoitre Farm nor Abergavenny itself lived up to our expectations.
While fishing for trout at the pond in my father-in-law’s Northwest Montana home, I noticed that there were hundreds of beautiful, silent, blue flying insects near the edge of the water. Abandoning my fly rod for my camera, I lay on my stomach amid damp earth and pungent Canada goose droppings to take some close up photos.
In early 2014 Team Mago had the opportunity to tour European battlefields and memorials. In honor of Memorial Day, we’ve posted some photos from Belleau Wood and a video that we think you’ll enjoy.
This summer Team Mago is coming out with a City of Portland IOS app. Yes, it’s really happening. In anticipation of this grand release, we are publishing the first itinerary “Getting to Know Portland” on MagoGuide.net.
In this first itinerary, we talk about the ins-and-outs of Portland streets and neighborhoods, all about the public transportation system, the craft beer, the cannabis culture, and more. Check it out and let us know what you think.
