We enjoyed our stay in Abergavenny, Wales, but we have to admit that it wasn’t the highlight of the trip we anticipated. Neither the Swanmeadow Holiday Cottages at Pantygoitre Farm nor Abergavenny itself lived up to our expectations.
The Hardwick was the best restaurant on the European part of MagoGuide’s 2016 Grand Tour. This is one of those places where an accomplished chef, Steven Terry, “downshifts” and everybody wins.
For an introduction to Abergavenny, Wales, you could do a lot worse than the Cripple Creek Inn. Morgan declared the battered hake with chips and peas some of the best fried fish and chips that he had ever eaten.
