MagoGuide Portland (PDX) 2.0 is on the Apple App Store – and it’s only $0.99
Where should I start?
If you’re not sure where to begin, start by tapping the Home tab at the bottom and you’ll see a list of ideas for exploring Portland. For example, select “Restaurants” to get a list of all the restaurants ordered by our rostra rating. Home is an easy way to start exploring what the MagoGuide Portland App has to offer.
What if I just want to browse around?
The Places tab is the perfect way to browse. Tapping on the Sort by icons at the top will let you reorder the list by title, rating, or favorites. If you’re lucky enough to be in Portland, you can order the list by distance from where you are standing and see all of the places that are nearby. Handy, huh?
Don’t forget to try out the “Search” at the top. In addition to searching a particular name, you can type in something like “Asian” and get good places to eat all that great Thai, Vietnamese, Japanese, etc.
How do I get more information?
Found that perfect place to explore. Tap on a place in the Places list and you’ll get more information including a phone number, an address, the place’s website, and so forth. Each of these are “tappable” for instant access. Tap the address, for example, to get directions.
What’s the little heart for?
The little heart represents your favorites. Tap on the heart and it will turn red, making it easy for you to get a list of all of the MagoGuide Portland places of special interest to you.
How do the ratings work?
Glad you asked. Team Mago assigns rostra ratings to each place on a 5 point scale. If a place has a 4 or higher (those are green on the map), that means that we really liked it and you won’t want to miss a chance to visit it on the trip. If it has a 3 or 3.5 (yellow on the map), it means we liked it just fine and you’ll enjoy your visit. Anything below 3 (red on the map) you’ll want to read the description and think about it.
Why “rostra?” Because Morgan wanted it that way.
Can I share?
We would love for you to share a place. The share icon is on the upper right portion of each place. Tap that and you can post the place with your comments to Facebook, Twitter, or any other darn social media site that you like.
Sure do. Tap on the Map tab at the bottom right and you’ll see a map with places represented as circles, color coded to help find the best fast. Tap on a circle and you can either get more information about a place or pop out to Apple maps for directions.
And if you’re lucky enough to be in Portland, you can tap on the “Around Me” button. You’ll be magically transported to your location and all the places around you hi-lighted on the map . That’s right, it’s magic.
Well, we hope you get the idea. MagoGuide Portland is intended to be a handy reference to the places we love (or not) in Portland. For more information about MagoGuide Portland, check out our latest post announcing MagoGuide Portland 2.0.
